In the Southern Urals, an 18-year-old resident of the Chuvash Republic will appear in court. The young man deliberately obtained illegal access to personal data of citizens for the purpose of further registration of loans in their name in various microfinance organizations.
The accused, having the logins and passwords of users of the information system, entered their accounts, copied personal data from there and entered them on the websites of microfinance organizations when applying for loans. The amount of online loans ranged from 5,000 to 25,000 rubles. Thus, the accused issued loans totaling more than 170 thousand rubles to unknown Russian citizens, including victims from Chelyabinsk. With the proceeds, the young man bought branded items. The investigation established that the accused carried out illegal activities from March 2022 to June 2023. According to the circumstances of the crime committed, employees of the investigative unit of the SU of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Chelyabinsk initiated criminal cases on the grounds of crimes provided for in part 2 of Article 272 "Unauthorized access to computer information" and Part 1 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code "Fraud". The investigators have done a lot of work aimed at establishing all the circumstances of the incident, and have collected sufficient evidence.
The attacker was detained in the Republic of Chuvashia by employees of the Department for Combating the illegal use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region. For the period of investigation, the accused was given a preventive measure in the form of recognizance not to leave and proper behavior.
At present, the investigation of the criminal case has been completed and sent to the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk for consideration on the merits with the approved indictment.
