Investigators of the Central Department of Internal Affairs of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the city of Chelyabinsk have completed a preliminary investigation of a criminal case against a person accused of embezzling funds from foreigners via the Internet.

"According to investigators, in April 2014, the defendant suggested that his friends, who were unaware of his illegal plans, jointly establish an organization for processing payments on the Internet. A partnership for trade in goods and services via the Internet was established in the territory of one of the Baltic republics. The current account was opened in another country, and the actual activity was carried out in the city of Chelyabinsk.

In October 2014, the accused illegally obtained payment card codes belonging to four Europeans. Using the information obtained, he stole the money belonging to them, transferred it to the current account of his organization, and then to the account of a Russian bank, and cashed it. The total damage exceeded 60 thousand euros," - said the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk.

The illegal activity of the attacker was stopped by Russian police officers in cooperation with their foreign colleagues.

"The criminal case was initiated on the grounds of a crime under part four of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. At present, with the approved indictment, it has been sent to the Central District Court of Chelyabinsk for consideration on the merits," Irina Volk said.
