TASS, November 25. The Kurchatov court of Chelyabinsk has sentenced a local resident to 1.5 years of probation for illegally accessing personal accounts from Internet services, including state institutions and banking systems. This was reported to TASS in the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region.
"Employees of the Federal Security Service as a result of operational search activities established that a resident of the region used software deliberately designed for unauthorized destruction, blocking, modification, copying of computer information. He illegally obtained access to personal accounts from Internet services, including state institutions, banking systems and distributed them in the Telegram messenger for a monetary reward of $400 to $2 thousand in the form of cryptocurrency," the report says.
The man was found guilty of committing two crimes under Part 1 of Article 272 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal access to computer information) and Part 2 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (creation, use and distribution of malicious computer programs). He was given a sentence of 1.5 years imprisonment with a probation period of 1.5 years.
The department noted that in 2023, according to the materials of the Federal Security Service, four people were convicted of committing crimes in the field of computer information, more than 25 computer attacks were identified aimed at obtaining unauthorized access to information resources of the government, the legislative assembly of the Chelyabinsk Region, defense and industrial enterprises. The facts of computer information leakage were not allowed, the press service added.
