One of the operators of the main site of the Bitcoin network infrastructure, an administrator under the nickname Cobra, issued an alarmist warning: the US authorities will soon ban people from storing bitcoins on their own.

American regulators, according to the administrator Bitcoin.org banks are preparing to introduce a complete ban on self-storage of cryptocurrencies. This means that US citizens will have to attract intermediaries who will store digital assets. Cobra believes that introducing restrictions and complying with them may not be practical.

"If you think that governments won't come after your bitcoins, then you just didn't pay attention," Cobra scares on the social network page.

Administrator Bitcoin.org I remembered the confiscation of gold from the Americans in the 1930s. Executive Order No. 6102 banned the accumulation of gold coins, bullion, and gold certificates in the United States to combat the effects of the Great Depression. All individuals and legal entities were required to exchange gold for paper money. Cobra fears that the US authorities may do the same with cryptocurrencies-introduce restrictions on mining and self-storage of bitcoins.

Cobra recently assured subscribers that there could be a split in the Bitcoin community. There are those who want the network to remain unchanged, and those who would like to include more features in Bitcoin, expanding the network's capabilities. Cobra is confident that these disagreements may reflect badly on the ecosystem of the first cryptocurrency.
