Store shelves in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland are being emptied due to supply problems.

In Sweden, there were problems with the supply of alcohol after a key distributor Systembolaget was subjected to a cyber attack. Systembolaget is the only retailer in the country with the right to sell alcoholic beverages stronger than 3.5%.

As a result of hacking the system of Skanlog, which is responsible for logistics of about 25% of Systembolaget products, many products, including alcohol and household appliances, may disappear from store shelves in Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Skanlog suggested that the attack was carried out by hackers from North Korea using the LockBit 3.0 ransomware program. The attack affected Microsoft's "economic activity software" and the Dynaman warehouse management system.

A representative of Systembolaget warned that stocks of certain types of beer, wine and spirits, as well as paper bags, may soon run out. Despite this, Systembolaget assured that the complete disappearance of alcoholic products will not happen, but some brands may temporarily disappear from the shelves.

It is not yet clear when Skanlog will be able to resume its full operation. In case of continued problems with delivery, Systembolaget announced the availability of a backup plan. In response to a possible shortage of products, Systembolaget began working with other distributors to minimize the impact on consumers.
