A real danger or an attempt to destabilize the mood inside the country?

Turkish hackers attacked the system of a popular movie theater chain in Israel to spread a threatening message.

On January 23, hackers of Turkish origin seized control of the image of advertising screens in the Lev cinema chain in Tel Aviv, one of the most visited cinemas in the country. The message contained Hebrew text and footage of the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel. In the text, the cybercriminals promised that they would restrict Israel's access to the Internet and banking services.

Hackers message on cinema advertising screens

To post the message, hackers broke into an external system responsible for updating advertising screensavers and trailers. At the moment, the messages have been deleted, and the police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. The MeshSec group announced its involvement in the cyberattack.

Since the beginning of the conflict in Gaza, hacktivism has intensified on the part of both Palestinian and Israeli supporters. Attacks usually target government and media sites, as well as vital infrastructure systems. So, the work of the largest Israeli mobile operator Pelephone was recently disrupted by hacktivists, and the complete lack of Internet continues in Gaza. This incident seriously restricted the ability of most residents to communicate.
