The company uses full-screen banners to remind you about the transition to Windows 11.

Microsoft is actively encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 11, as official support for Windows 10 expires in October 2025. The company started displaying full-screen banners with a reminder about this.

According to Reddit users, these banners are displayed even on computers that don't technically support Windows 11. The banner reads: "We thank you for your loyalty as a Windows 10 customer. As we approach the end of Windows 10 support, we are ready to accompany you on your PC journey. Your computer does not support upgrading to Windows 11, but it will receive patches and security updates for Windows 10 until support ends on October 14, 2025."

Microsoft has already announced that it will stop supporting Windows 10 Enterprise (as well as Education and IoT Enterprise) version 21H2 from June 11, 2024. After this date, the company will stop releasing updates for older OS versions, including security patches. Support for Windows 11 version 21H2 for regular users ended in June 2023.

The discontinuation of support means that Microsoft will no longer release critical patches to protect enterprise customers running Windows 10 version 21H2 from vulnerabilities and other threats. Also, the official Microsoft support service will first recommend that admins and users upgrade to the latest version of Windows 10 or upgrade to Windows 11 before providing help.

Last week, Microsoft announced prices for the Advanced Security Update program for Windows 10 enterprise customers - $61 per PC per year and $45 for Intune or AutoPatch. These updates will be available for three years.
