In Tver, the activities of a group of young Internet scammers consisting of seven local college students aged 19 to 21 were stopped. Employees of the Department for Combating Cybercrime of the Regional Ministry of Internal Affairs, together with criminal investigation operatives, detained suspects who had been committing a series of Internet frauds for two years.
A group of criminals found mobile phone numbers linked to the personal accounts of the portal "Gosuslug". Having gained access to the victims personal data, the attackers issued microloans in their name. As a result of their actions, the total damage amounted to more than 900 thousand rubles, and the number of victims reached 103 people from various regions of Russia.
During the searches, more than 200 SIM cards, mobile phones and laptops were seized from the suspects.
The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Tver region opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for punishment for fraud on a particularly large scale. At the moment, all the suspects are under arrest, and the prosecutor's office has taken control of the investigation.
