Russian companies are losing access to Power BI, Dynamics CRM, and other cloud solutions.

From March 20, 2024, the US tech giants Microsoft and Amazon will stop providing access to their cloud products for Russian companies. This became known thanks to information from the Russian company Softline, which received relevant notifications. Confirmation of this information was also received from a source in the IT market who communicated with RBC .

The reason for this decision is the new sanctions imposed by the European Union on December 19, 2023. The twelfth package of sanctions includes restrictions on the supply of various software to Russia. In response to these measures, Microsoft and Amazon will stop access to products such as Power BI, Dynamics CRM and other cloud solutions that include these programs. From March 20, users from Russia will not be able to use these products or access the information stored in them.

Elena Volotovskaya, vice president of investment at Softline, published a letter from Microsoft, which mentions new EU economic sanctions. According to the letter, the sanctions prohibit Microsoft from supplying certain types of management and design software, including cloud solutions, to Russian organizations.

Information about the continued use of Microsoft products in the Russian commercial sector has also leaked to the market. Despite the promises of Microsoft representatives to maintain access, the introduction of new sanctions will lead to the termination of the provision of services. The situation highlights the growing tension between technology companies and government regulators in the context of international relations and economic sanctions.
