A leak of data from the country's securities commission could shake up Argentina's financial markets.

The National Securities Commission of Argentina (CNV) was the victim of a cyberattack, allegedly by the Medusa group. Hackers demand a ransom of $500,000 within a week, threatening to leak 1.5 TB of documents and CNV databases.

Confidential files and records that could potentially shake up Argentina's financial markets are reportedly at risk of being leaked. CNV has yet to release an official statement about the hack.

The incident marks another major attack in Medusa's growing list of cyberattacks. It is noteworthy that a group of ransomware recently claimed responsibility for an attack on a major cancer center in Australia, during which hackers demanded a ransom of $100 thousand.

Note that Medusa is the group that posted the source code of Microsoft Bing and Cortana on the web . According to experts, the leak is about 12 GB and is part of the 37 GB stolen by the Lapsus group in 2022 . Microsoft did not provide any comments on the leak, so the accuracy of the hackers ' words has not been confirmed.
