Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), together with colleagues from the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Vilyuysky district in the city of Novosibirsk, detained two intermediaries of remote scammers who were engaged in the transfer of funds stolen from elderly Russians.

One of the victims of such fraud was a 66-year-old local resident. The woman explained that she received a message in one of the messengers on behalf of her manager that an audit was being conducted in the accounting department, and a high-ranking official would contact her soon.

And so it happened: a certain man informed her that fraudsters were trying to steal money from her bank account, and in order to protect them, he advised her to follow the instructions of the bank manager. Then she received a call allegedly from an employee of the Central Bank, who convinced the citizen through the bank's application to send 170 thousand rubles of their savings to a "safe account".

To make it more convincing, the attackers sent her fake payment documents and IDs via messenger, and also informed her that she was using an outdated version of the bank's application. Believing them, the woman followed all the instructions and eventually lost her money.

In this criminal scheme, according to the police, two residents of Novosibirsk acted as so-called cashiers: they withdrew money from bank cards to which the victims sent their savings, and then transferred them to the accounts of employers. According to the detainees, they cashed from 30 thousand to 3 million rubles a day.

Searches were conducted at the suspects ' place of residence, during which more than 10 bank cards and cash were seized.

An investigator of the district police department opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The suspects were detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation and will soon be taken to the Vilyuysky district for investigative actions.
