Security information specialists from ReasonLabs said that they managed to expose one of the fraudulent schemes. According to the portal BleepingComputer, hackers "worked" since 2019, for several years they managed to seize several million dollars. Tens of thousands of victims were affected by their actions.
It is assumed that the attackers are natives of Russia. They created a network of fictitious dating websites that allowed them to cash out funds debited from stolen bank card details.
"We have informed about this scheme to all the parties that it affected in one way or another. This includes payment service providers Visa and Mastercard, as well as many other services, such as AWS, GoDaddy and others," the BleepingComputer portal quotes a ReasonLabs representative.
