Jailbreak allows access to third-party apps and features for the first generation of devices.

The hacker team palera1n announced the release of a jailbreak for Apple TV set-top boxes. So far, the hacked firmware is only compatible with first-generation Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices, but in the near future, developers plan to add support for newer models.

The firmware is relevant for tvOS versions from 15.0 to 17.4. In addition to installing various tweaks and third-party applications, jailbreaking will allow you to install applications that have not been published in the official App Store.

Among other features, the screenshots provided by the team show the Trollstore icon - a tool for downloading unofficial IPA files, which, however, can also work on official firmware versions without the need for jailbreaking.

The jailbreak uses the Spartan application, which is written entirely in the Swift programming language, as a file manager. The Spartan code is open source and available for study on GitHub. The file manager supports all the basic functions that are familiar to such utilities.

So far, the developers have not announced the exact release date of the firmware.
