Your phone will never be the same again with Android 15.

Google has announced the debut version of Android 15 for developers, laying the foundation for improving the experience of using and developing on the Android platform. The new version of the operating system focuses on optimizing performance, improving integration with hardware, and improving user privacy and security. It will also bring many improvements to the user experience.

A blog post by Dave Burke, Google's vice president of Android development, presents Android 15 as a key step in the company's efforts to create a platform that not only increases productivity, but also offers impressive media capabilities. He stressed that the new version minimizes battery consumption, without sacrificing the performance and smooth operation of applications on a variety of devices.

One of the notable features of Android 15 is the latest version of the "Privacy Sandbox on Android", a multi-year initiative of Google to develop technologies that improve user privacy and at the same time allow you to interact effectively and personalized with mobile advertising.

The new developer preview release introduces new APIs that use fs-verity — an advanced feature in the Linux kernel that uses special cryptographic signatures to protect against unauthorized file modification, providing an additional layer of security against malware and unauthorized file changes.

Integration improvements also affect the Android Dynamic Performance Framework, offering features such as energy efficiency mode for sessions, optimizing energy usage instead of performance for background tasks. Thanks to innovations in Android 15, developers have access to advanced tools for monitoring the GPU and CPU, contributing to a more accurate adaptation of the system to current workloads.

Android 15 also brings back the partial screen recording feature, allowing you to record the contents of a specific app, rather than the entire screen. "Health Connect from Android" offers a centralized platform for managing health and fitness data collected from various applications, improving the convenience for users who care about their well-being.

In addition, Android 15 introduces extensions for more control over the camera's hardware and algorithms, improvements in low-light conditions, and adjustment of flash power, giving apps more control and flexibility to create high-quality photos. Support for virtual MIDI 2.0 devices confirms Android's commitment to allowing audio and music creators to better express themselves on the platform.

The announcement of Android 15 coincides with the strengthening of the partnership between Google and Samsung, focusing on technical improvements and closer interaction between hardware and software. This is also accompanied by the launch of advanced artificial intelligence features in Samsung's flagship devices, reflecting the growing rivalry with Apple.

Android 15 will evolve through several beta versions, setting new standards in performance, privacy, and user experience, before launching a public stable version later this year.
