Beware of overly tempting offers.

Airbnb accounts have become a popular target for attacks on the Dark Web. In recent months, thousands of accounts of the service have been put up for sale in underground online stores at a price of one dollar.

According to a study conducted by experts from SlashNext, cybercriminals use phishing, malware and stolen cookies to gain unauthorized access to Airbnb accounts. Once they gain control of their account, they sell it or use it to book accommodation and other activities without arousing suspicion.

On one of the popular cybercrime resources, a booming market associated with Airbnb was discovered. Among the offers were "checking accounts" - automated programs for quick verification of accounts, as well as services for booking accommodation with a 50% discount.

The researchers note that such services are lucrative because their ads have attracted tens of thousands of views and hundreds of comments. With more than 7 million ads in 100,000 active cities around the world, Airbnb provides an ideal opportunity for hackers looking for new targets to attack.
