We explore how artificial intelligence promises to change the way we communicate.

Google announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence feature in Google Chrome that allows users to right-click on any text field and fill it with text from a chatbot. The function is called "Help Me Write". While this may seem like a minor innovation, it has the potential to fundamentally change the Internet. Previously, it was necessary to perform several actions to create text using AI, but now the process has become instantaneous. This opens up new opportunities: now every place on the Internet where users can enter text will start to be filled with artificial intelligence words.

A Google spokesperson said that the goal of the new AI features in Chrome is to make this technology more accessible and convenient for performing everyday tasks, even if the user is not an expert. The development is aimed at helping you write and improve short texts for common online tasks, such as requests to buy or sell products. This is expected to help people write more confidently and ultimately improve the quality of their published content.

The "Help with Writing" feature will appear in the latest Chrome update, version M122, which will be launched this week. For now, it will only be available on Mac and Windows computers, not on mobile devices, and will only work in English. The usage is simple: you can call the function in any text field in the browser, describe what you want to write, and then, using Google's latest Gemini language models, Help with Writing offers the appropriate text.

Like all of Google's latest AI features, this is an experimental tool that needs to be activated in settings. To enable it, you need to log in to Chrome, click on the menu in the upper-right corner (three dots), open settings and go to the "Experimental AI" page. Here you can activate "Help with Writing" and other Chrome AI features. If the user wants to disable this feature, this can be done at any time. At least for now, Google doesn't want to give the impression that it's imposing AI on the general public.

The company doesn't pay as much attention to this announcement as it does to many of its other recent AI innovations. Google published a short blog post detailing the availability and operation of the new feature, without the extra praise and advertising slogans that are usually found in such ads.

Google announced the upcoming launch of the described feature along with a set of other artificial intelligence tools for Chrome last month, however, the release to a wide audience was temporarily postponed. Such a move may indicate that the development took longer than expected, or that the company is aware of the significance and potential impact of this technology on the Internet space, which, of course, can undergo significant changes.
