As previously reported, in the period from February to September 2020, a previously convicted resident of Moscow created an organized community, in whose activities he attracted 7 residents of Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as 12 residents of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic. The community functioned on the principle of a financial pyramid, the participants of which, in order to commit the theft of funds from an unlimited number of people using an Internet project not registered in the state registers of financial market participants, attracted money from citizens using various accounts on a social network on the Internet.
In the period from February 2020 to January 17, 2021, members of the community, through deception, using a social network, attracted non-cash funds from 2,875 citizens in the amount of 763,884,512 rubles to contribute to the financial pyramid, which were subsequently stolen. During the operational search activities, 20 defendants were detained.
In July 2023, the investigation was completed and 850 volumes of criminal case materials with an approved indictment were sent to court.
One of the community members, a 23-year-old native of the Saratov region, hid from the investigative authorities. The girl, having individual abilities and persuasion skills, acted as a kind of “face” of the project. The head of the community entrusted her with conducting dialogues with potential investors, organizing live broadcasts through a social network, posting her photographs and videos on the Internet page with comments about the possibilities of high earnings in a short time. In February 2021, the Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic put a 23-year-old suspect on the federal wanted list.
During the operational-search activities, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic detained the girl in Saratov and took her to the Investigation Department of the Republican Ministry of Internal Affairs for investigative actions. By a decision of the Nalchik City Court, at the request of the investigation, a preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen against the detainee.
