The St. Petersburg police, together with the KLYUCHAVTO corporate security Service, identified and stopped attempts to steal cars from dealerships for sale on the black market. One of the scammers was arrested.

The criminals acted as follows. A member of an organized criminal group used forged documents to apply for a loan to the bank, went to a car dealership and made an expensive purchase. After approving the loan, the bank sent a guarantee letter to the dealer, the attackers received the car, sent it to another city and put it up for sale.

As part of this scheme, the participant twice came to the auto center KLYUCHAVTO | Cars with mileage St. Petersburg Pulkovo: first he bought a Porsche worth more than 6 million rubles on credit, then a BMW for 4 million rubles.

However, one of the creditors was vigilant: having detected signs of forgery of the client's passport, he suspended the transfer of money and warned the car dealership about it. The KLYUCHAVTO security service filed a statement with the police and helped the security forces detain the fraudster, and then conduct an investigation.

It turned out that the accomplices transported illegally purchased cars for resale to Khimki near Moscow. As a result of the investigation, a criminal case was opened in accordance with Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud as part of an organized criminal group or on a particularly large scale, up to 10 years in prison with a fine of up to 1 million rubles).

The stolen cars have already been seized and after registration as evidence will be transferred to the KLYUCHAVTO car center for storage. The detainee has been taken into custody, and measures are being taken to identify his accomplices.

In this case, the attackers did not bother to issue loans in someone else's name online: to do this, they would have to lure account holders out of the keys to their personal account or register on their behalf on a specialized site — such as banki.ru.
