Cryptocurrency publication Decrypt warned about hacking its account in the electronic mailing service. Attackers sent phishing emails about the distribution of DECRYPT tokens.

The editors of Decrypt explained that in fact the portal does not conduct any distribution of tokens. All links sent to Decrypt subscribers in the recent email lead to fake sites, so users were advised to delete it. The email and website created by the scammers looked almost exactly like the official website of the publication, in order to gain the trust of subscribers.

Decrypt has already restored access to your account. Despite the fact that a very small number of users fell for the trick of scammers, the publication stated that even one victim of intruders is too many. The information portal is conducting a thorough security check and has launched an investigation into how its account was compromised to prevent future attacks.

Decrypt reminded that scammers regularly impersonate this publication, spreading fake information in social networks about the distribution of tokens or conducting high-profile interviews. Therefore, Decrypt urged its readers to carefully check each contact, and in case of doubt, do not enter into communication with suspicious individuals.

Last week, the official account of the manufacturer of hardware wallets Trezor in the social network X was subjected to a phishing attack. Scammers posted tweets about the pre-sale of fake TRZR tokens.
