In December 2023, the Roskomnadzor Antifraud system, designed to block fraudulent calls, prevented more than 120 million calls, which is twice as much as in the previous month,the agency's press service told the media.
A system designed to combat phone number spoofing blocked a record number of calls last month, up 111% from November. Since the launch of the system in December 2022, this is the highest figure.
In December, 12.2 billion calls were checked, which is 1.7 billion more than in November. The percentage of fraudulent calls from the total number was 1%, while in November this figure was 0.55%.
According to RKN, the number of telecom operators connected to Antifraud increased to 549 in December from 267 in November. The coverage of the number capacity of operators working with the system was almost 80%.
The agency noted that there are still operators that are not connected to the system, through which fraudulent calls pass. Small operators often skip such calls.
At the moment, there are almost 1.3 thousand telecom operators operating in the country. By law, all telecom operators must connect to the system by February 28, 2024.
